Meet Our Team

Tanya Smith-ShifleTt – Owner

Tanya has always had a passion for designing kitchens and bathrooms. After all, she feels a kitchen is what brings a family together and is truly the heart of the home. After becoming proficient in the 2020 design program while helping her husband’s construction company part-time with kitchen layouts, she went on to learn Pro Kitchen and Chief Architect. She did all their kitchen layouts and designs while still working full-time in medical sales. In 2017 she officially retired from medical sales and decided to chase her dream. That dream was to open her own kitchen and bathroom design studio, Unique Kitchens & Baths. Tanya has been in the kitchen design community for 13 years and her passion for design is continuously growing. Her husband still runs his construction company while also building the cabinets that she designs. Each cabinet choice is designed and built for a client’s own space.

Amanda MCKAY – Kitchen & Bath Designer / In-house Interior Designer

Born in Connecticut where she grew up in the construction field. Her love of design, art and math led Amanda to earn her bachelor’s degree in interior design. Since 2003, she has been working as a designer in the kitchen and bath industry. After living in Pennsylvania for eleven years, she relocated to Maryland in 2016. Amanda provides the clients with not only beautiful spaces, but functional and practical as well.

Natalie Williams – Kitchen & Bath Designer

Natalie has over 15 years of design experience and is extremely passionate about what she does. She enjoys developing strong relationships with all of her clients and wowing them with her creative designs in their home. While design is always challenging, and you must open yourself to new ideas, concepts and views. She approaches each design with the same enthusiasm and strives to help each client to achieve their own unique vision, catered to their taste and style all while making their space functional for them. Although design is her passion, she enjoys spending time with her family even more.

SaraH Hoover - Design Coordinator

Sarah is a Maryland native through and through. She graduated from Howard Community College in 2017 with her Associates Degree in Business Management. She had been working in the Insurance industry for the last few years and decided to make a change and join UKB to explore her passion of projects and design. Sarah is a weekend warrior who loves to explore and pull ideas from her surroundings. She loves a challenge and likes to drum up designs to make tasteful yet functional spaces in her own home.

Kolleen Denning - Kitchen & BAth designer

Kolleen was born and raised in West Virginia, where she earned her bachelor's degrees in Interior Design and General Business at West Virginia University. She studied abroad at the University of Hertfordshire in England, where she gets her inspiration for her designs today. She is a young, ambitious, and enthusiastic designer. Her passion for design developed at an early age; as a young child, she would rearrange items in a home, making them into a beautiful and functional space. In 2021 she joined the Unique Kitchens & Baths team, where she enjoys creating strong connections with her clients and making each design unique.

Arielle Rivers - Kitchen & Interior Designer

Arielle was born and raised in Maryland. She started her college career at the University of Maryland as a Civil Engineering major but quickly realized that was not her passion. Upon receiving her Associate's Degree in General Studies from Prince George's Community College in 2017, she transferred to Georgia Southern University where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design in 2020. She prides herself on functional spaces that capture the essence of her clients. Her favorite pastimes include roller skating, watching TV, and getting food with friends.

Madelyn Alexander - Kitchen & Interior Designer

A Maryland native, Madelyn graduated in 2019 with an Interior Design degree from Community College of Baltimore County. She has been working in the Kitchen and Bath industry for the past two years prior to joining the UKB team. Madelyn loves the creativity that comes with designing spaces that clients will love. Her favorite part of the design process is coming up with creative solutions to challenges that come with the job. In her free time Madelyn enjoys crafting and creating handmade projects to share with her friends and family.

Kelley TomChik - Kitchen & Interior Designer

Born and raised in Baltimore, Kelley has always had a passion for designing spaces. She graduated from the Art Institute of York Pennsylvania in 2007 with a degree in Interior Design and has been in the industry ever since. She has worked in numerous fields including furniture and decor as well as design-build firms. Kelley enjoys taking the time to get to know what’s most important to each client. She loves bringing their vision and personality to life with her renderings. In her spare time she enjoys painting, spending time with loved ones and redesigning rooms in her own home. Kelley believes there’s nothing more valuable than a well designed space that adds comfort and quality to life.
